One Light Day is designed to provide its central experience without an account, advertising or behavioural tracking.

Information used by the app

Camera

The sky-finder experience may use the camera to show the sky behind the on-screen guide. Camera imagery is processed on your device and is not recorded, uploaded or retained by us.

Location and motion

Your approximate location, compass heading and motion sensors may be used to calculate the direction of Voyager 1. This information is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us.

Torch and messages

The Send Light experience uses the iPhone torch to create a symbolic sequence of flashes. Words entered for transmission are converted locally on your device. The app does not send them to Voyager, to us or to a public database.

Dates and local preferences

Your birth date, completed opening experience, chronograph and other preferences may be stored locally on your device. We do not receive them.

Optional contributions

Voluntary support is processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. We do not receive your complete payment-card information. Apple may provide transaction information needed to confirm the purchase and operate the StoreKit service. Apple’s own privacy policy applies to its processing.

Website and email

This website does not require an account. If you email us or use the contact page, we receive the information you choose to provide, including your email address and message. We use it only to respond, manage cooperation, protect the service and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information.

External services

The app and website link to NASA, JPL, Signal Ark and Apple services. Their privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Retention and your choices

Local app information can be removed by deleting the app. Email correspondence is retained only as reasonably necessary for support, cooperation, security and legal records. You may request access, correction or deletion of personal information you sent us, subject to applicable law.

Children

One Light Day is an educational experience for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian may contact us regarding any concern.

Changes and contact
